About Us

Built for people who want more than temporary relief.

One-on-one, hands-on care focused on finding what’s actually driving your pain — and building the capacity to keep you out of it.
No handoffs. No overlapping appointments. No generic exercise sheets. Every visit is 60 minutes with the same clinician, focused entirely on you.
Every program starts with a thorough evaluation. We review your history, past treatments, movement, mobility, strength, symptoms, and activity demands. When indicated, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound gives us real-time imaging of your soft tissue — a level of precision rarely available in a physical therapy setting.
No referral needed. For movement-related pain and injury, a well-trained physical therapist should be your first call. If another type of care is the right fit, we’ll tell you and help you get there.

Dr. Adam Salzman

Dr. Adam Salzman is a fellowship-trained orthopedic physical therapist, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and former Division I athlete. He founded Forward Physio to build the kind of practice he wished existed — one that takes the time to find what’s actually wrong, builds a plan around your real goals, and doesn’t stop when your pain goes away.

Credentials & Training

Background

Dr. Salzman grew up in Chicago and competed as a Division I swimmer at UNC Wilmington for four years, contributing to three conference championships and setting two school records. That background shapes how he works with active adults and athletes — he understands what is required to perform, what it feels like to be sidelined, and what it actually takes to get back.

Outside the clinic, he stays active and spends as much time near the water as possible.

Common Questions

What makes Forward Physio different from other physical therapy clinics?

Every visit is 60 minutes, one-on-one with Dr. Salzman — no aides, no techs, no waiting while your therapist manages three other patients.

Dr. Salzman holds fellowship-level training in manual therapy (FAAOMPT) — the highest clinical credential in physical therapy — and uses diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound when indicated to identify what’s actually driving your problem.

Every plan includes a personalized home program with instructional videos so you know exactly what to do between sessions — and why. The program evolves as you progress — you’re not doing the same five exercises on week six that you were handed on day one.

Between visits, you have direct access to your clinician — not a front desk.

Recovery doesn’t stop when you leave the clinic. Sleep, nutrition, hydration, and stress all directly affect how your body heals and adapts. We factor those into your plan and give you practical guidance — not generic advice.

No. North Carolina is a direct access state, allowing you to visit a licensed physical therapist for evaluations and treatment without a physician’s referral or prescription.

We’re out-of-network, which means we work with insurance a little differently than in-network providers.

If you have out-of-network benefits, we submit the claim on your behalf — no paperwork on your end. What you receive in reimbursement depends on your specific plan. Before your evaluation, call the member services number on your insurance card and ask about your out-of-network physical therapy benefits.

We are unenrolled with Medicare and cannot bill Medicare for any services.

In-network clinics often operate within reimbursement models that require clinicians to see multiple patients per hour. That means rushed visits, overlapping appointments, more time with aides, and care influenced by insurance authorization requirements or visit limits.

And in-network doesn’t always mean low cost. With today’s high deductibles, copays, and coinsurance, many patients still pay a significant amount out of pocket for physical therapy.

Your care at Forward Physio is all-inclusive, with no added fees for individual treatments and no surprise bills months later.

You’re paying for care built around what you need and what will help you reach your goals — not around what an insurance company will authorize.

A 60-minute evaluation: movement screen, hands-on assessment, and real-time diagnostic ultrasound when indicated. You’ll leave knowing what’s driving your problem, what getting better actually looks like measured in specific benchmarks, and a clear recommendation for your care plan — all in writing. Treatment starts Day 1 so most patients feel relief after their first visit!

Wear something comfortable and loose fitting.

Depends on your case. Most people feel significant improvement in 4–8 weeks. Longer-standing problems or higher-performance goals may take 3–6 months. We tell you the timeline upfront and build your plan around hitting that target.

We build each plan around your individual needs, goals, and how much support you need, so the total cost can vary.

We offer different program options and will help you choose the one that makes the most sense for your goals and budget.

We accept credit, debit, cash, check, HSA and FSA.
